Embarking on a New Chapter: Joining BOA Editions as Director of Development & Publicity

I am thrilled to share some exciting news with you all: I have recently accepted the position of Director of Development & Publicity at BOA Editions, a distinguished Pulitzer Prize-winning publishing press! This opportunity represents a significant milestone in my career, and I am truly honored to join such a prestigious organization with a rich literary history.

In my new role, I will be overseeing all aspects related to development, fundraising campaigns, and publicity to support the publication of BOA's esteemed titles. Reporting directly to the Publisher/Executive Director, my responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of tasks aimed at advancing BOA's mission and enhancing its visibility within the literary community.

Development Responsibilities:

  • Managing annual grant applications to key organizations and private foundations.

  • Researching and identifying new funding opportunities to sustain BOA's operations and initiatives.

  • Designing and executing fundraising activities, including our annual fundraising campaigns and major gift campaign.

  • Cultivating donor relationships and expanding our individual funding base.

Publicity/PR Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with authors to develop tailored publicity plans for each title.

  • Managing promotional mailing lists and coordinating book tours, readings, and festivals.

  • Handling all review and desk copy requests and liaising with key reviewers.

  • Managing organizational PR, including press releases, media alerts, and author event calendars.

  • Overseeing social media advertising, website management, and online bookstore operations.

  • Strategizing social media content and campaigns to enhance BOA's online presence and engagement.

Special Events/Conferences Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating BOA's presence at major book conferences such as AWP.

  • Promoting fundraisers, readings, sales, and special events through various channels, including press releases, media alerts, and social media announcements.

  • Coordinating the design and production of printed materials for events and fundraising initiatives.
